ABOUT US

In 2017, Jeppe Damberg (UWCM18), Mxolisi Valakazi (UWCM17), and Samuel Belon (UWCM17) founded the Flying Dutchman in hopes that the paper would one day facilitate discussion across all the United World Colleges.

Today, the Flying Dutchman is run by a group of passionate United World College students striving to create a platform of discussion that can advance the UWC movement. On the website, we publish articles, videos, satire, and any news concerning the movement. However, our flagship is the physical paper published monthly at UWC Maastricht and which can be downloaded on the website. We are ever thankful to our readers and the paper’s growing popularity, and we will do our best to continue to improve the flow of information across UWCs.

Our Mission

The Flying Dutchman strives to encourage debate, strengthen understanding of cultures, and provide United World Colleges’ students with a monthly dose of wit and satire.

Editorial Stance

The Flying Dutchman’s editorial stance is to represent, defend, and further the United World College values and principles without unfair partiality for students, teachers, or leadership.
